Devoting Research and Development dollars to a new line of subsea control products was an easy decision for Oilgear.  Given Oilgear’s reputation for reliability, and the stronghold that Oilgear’s Olmsted Products division enjoys in offshore valving, taking Oilgear subsea was a natural progression.

By leveraging state-of-the-art engineering tools (simulation, CFD, FEA), material science, as well as its unique testing capability, Oilgear is bringing an unprecedented level of application understanding and reliability to subsea control products.

Oilgear variable-displacement, axial-piston pumps thrive on low viscosity fluids and, unlike the competition, our pumps are not limited by bearing life. Featuring proprietary hard-on-hard technology in which the running surfaces exceed Rockwell 65, Oilgear pumps are some of the most rugged, longest lasting variable-displacement pumps on the market.

The ability of our pumps to thrive on environmentally friendly, high-water content fluids has caused the Oilgear name to become linked to a number of fluid brands, such as Skydrol®, Houghto-Safe®, Erifon®, Stack Magic®, Pelagic®, and Oceanic®.

The Oilgear PVS pump is intended for subsea applications such as ROVs, subsea HPUs, and BOP actuation.  It also provides a flexible means of meeting the requirements of API 53.



The Oilgear Subsea Control Valve brings aerospace reliability to the subsea control environment.

The patent-pending pressure-assisted design allows for 60% fewer parts than the competition while also assuring that the valve never sticks in a mid-shift position.  The metal-on-metal seating surface makes for an extremely robust product, capable of over 100,000 cycles.  The cartridge design enables easy installation and servicing and minimizes the opportunities for user error.

The traditional subsea pressure regulator is a notoriously poor performer, prone to oscillation and leakage.  Oilgear has leveraged a century of hydraulic design expertise to create its superior Subsea Pressure Regulator.

The Oilgear Subsea Pressure Regulator is extremely accurate and will not oscillate.  It’s available as pilot operated, manually settable, or electrically commandable.
